The Journal of Innovation, Competition and Information Law (JICIL) is a tri-annual law journal aimed at understanding the nexus of the three areas viz. intellectual property law, the legal custodian of any Innovation, anti-trust laws which promote and encourage competition and IP and information law that binds the subject-matter of the other two laws.

JICIL has been active since 2018 and has published nine editions till date which are available at its website. JICIL is published by Harbinger Publishing.

Editorial Board Recruitment

The publisher is actively accepting volunteer applications from students for the following editorial positions in the journal. These include:

(a) Associate Editor / Trainee Editor: The position of Associate Editor or Trainee Editor is for candidates who do not have prior editorial experience, however, are interested in understanding the functioning of the journal and its subject areas. The work for such editors would typically involve editing of manuscripts, research on legal updates, engagement in policy work as well as assisting with administrative functions of the journal. Associate Editors are required to undergo an initial 3 (three) month period as Trainee Editors.

(b) Senior Associate Editor: The position of Senior Associate Editor is for candidates who have prior editorial experience of one or more brief positions and are interested in learning more about reviewing manuscripts and managing teams. The work for such editors would typically involve review and editing of manuscripts, engagement in research and policy work, apart from assisting with administrative functions.

(c) Managing Editors / Deputy Editor-in-Chief: The position of Managing Editor / Deputy Editor-in-Chief is for candidates who can demonstrate credible editorial experience and are willing to don leadership roles for themselves and manage teams effectively. The work would involve assignment of work, manuscript management, team management, review of manuscripts and administrative functions.

(d) Editor-in-Chief: The position of Editor-in-Chief is contemplated for candidates who can demonstrate leadership experience and interest in addition to understanding of journal functions and operations. The Editor-in-Chief would function as the head of the editorial board and discharge leadership, oversight functions as well as reporting to the Publisher.

Stipend or Honorarium

Please note that the positions are voluntary and therefore, no stipend is granted as a matter of procedure. However, the Publisher may grant to the Deputy Editor-in-Chief and the Editor-in-Chief a sum of honorarium after publication of 1 (one) edition every 3 months. This is subject to association by the member for a complete period of 3 (three) months of the publication and is based on performance and other factors.

Interested candidates are requested to fill the Application Form available here by filling out the respective fields and questions asked in the Form. They are also required to upload their CV/resume as part of the same. Candidates applying to the positions of Managing Editors and above would also be invited for a brief interview or interaction as part of the selection process, at a mutually agreeable time.
