Nehru Academy of Law is organising a Two Day National Seminar on New Labour Codes and its Effect on Migrant Workers in Hybrid Mode (Offline & Online).

The Seminar aims at exploring the concerns associated with the central theme in the light of recent four codes enacted by the Parliament of India: The Industrial Relations Code 2020, The code on Social Security 2020, The Occupational Safety, Health and Working conditions code 2020, The Code of Wages 2019.

Themes and Sub Themes

1. Labour and Employment Rights         

  • Implications of Child Labour

  • Inter State Migrant Labour

  • Unemployment

  • Agricultural Labour

2. Development of Industrial Law in India

  • Industries in India prior to Independence

  • Persuasive Influence of International Labour Organization

  • Increase Labour problems

  • Industrial dispute

  • Employees Insurance.

3. The code of wages, 2019

  • Wage and Bonus payment

  • Universalization of minimum wages to all employees

  • Revision of minimum wages

  • Employees of Scheduled Employment and minimum wages

4. Industrial Relations code 2020

  • Recognition of trade unions or federation of trade unions.

  • Concept of Recognition of Negotiating Union

  • Fixed Term Employment worker.

  • Re-skilling fund for training of retrenched employees.

5. The occupations safety, health and working conditions code, 2020

  • Occupational safety standard

  • Health and working conditions

  • Welfare provisions

  • Health check up

  • Registration of establishment

6. The code of Social Security

  • Social Security contributions to be made by employee / employer

  • Government social security measures for deprived category of workers.

  • Child Labour

  • Contract Labour

  • Liquidation of Companies

  • Food Rights of migrant laborers

The above-mentioned topics are not exhaustive; Authors are open to work any other topics can also be accommodated if it is in the tune with the central theme of the seminar.

Call For Papers

The Nehru Academy of Law invites original, unpublished manuscripts from professionals, academicians, students, trade union leaders, lawyers, officials of various departments, institutions and NGOs and stakeholders in the form of quality research papers or articles (Word limit : 2500 excluding footnotes) along with an abstract of not exceeding 250 words.

Submission Guidelines

  • An abstract of 250 words should be sent before 20 November 2020, 11:59 pm

  • Every Submission should be in MS Word, doc. Or docx. Format in A4 Layout.

  • The Titles should be in Times New Roman, font size 14.

  • The Body of the manuscript should be in Times New Roman, Font size 12, 1.5 line spacing , justified.

  • The footnotes shall be in Times New Roman, font size 10, line spacing 1. Any uniform method for citation should be used. Speaking footnotes and endnotes are discouraged.

  • Abstract and Full papers can be submitted through email at nalnationalseminar@gmail.com with subject line “Abstract Submission” and “Paper Submission” respectively within the time frame mentioned below.

  • The Papers shall be screened by a Committee. The Full Papers approved by the Committee shall be accepted for presentation in the Seminar. The intimation of selection will be made through your registered E-mail.

  • The final paper should contain a cover page which includes Name, Designation, Relevant Discipline and Year of Study, Address, E-mail id and Contact number.

  • Abstracts and papers should be written in English, and the working language of the Seminar will be English, and presentations shall be done in English.

  • Submissions should be made by the author who will attend the Seminar.

  • Co-Authorship is allowed but limited to one co-author only.

  • Only one paper per participant will be permitted.

  • The papers must be the original work of the author(s). No part of the paper should have been published earlier nor should it be under consideration for publication. Any form of Plagiarism will result in immediate disqualification.

Deadlines

  1. Submission of Abstract : 20 November 2022

  2. Communication of Abstract acceptance : 22 November 2022

  3. Submission of Full paper : 6 December 2022

  4. Communication of Full paper Acceptance : 7 December 2022

  5. Payment of Registration Fees : 10 December 2022

  6. Date of National Seminar : 16 and 17 December 2022 (Online & Offline)

Publication

  • Selected papers will be published in Nehru Academy of Law Review, bearing ISBN.

  • Selected papers may be subjected to editing which will be carried out by a team of experts.

  • Every author has to pay ₹600/- towards editing and printing costs and are eligible to get one free copy of Nehru Academy of Law Review.

Registration Fess

The fees are required to be paid online only after the confirmation of acceptance is given but before the seminar. 

For Paper Presenters: To be paid after the confirmation of acceptance of full paper

For professionals: ₹1000 (Single Author) and ₹1500 (for co-authorship)

Research Scholars: ₹800 (Single Author) and ₹1000 ( for Co-Authorship)

Academicians: ₹600 ( Single Author) and ₹750 ( for Co- authorship)

Students: ₹400 (single Author) and ₹500 ( for co authorship)
