GLC Reporter, a students’ initiated weekly wall magazine, inaugurated in the month of October is already set for its third round of edition. The third edition will focus on the Contempt of Courts Act – whether it should be repealed or not..GLC Reporter aspires to be the voice for the students of Government Law College, Kozhikode; it aims at providing a platform to students and faculty, to express their views on contemporary socio-economic, legal and political issues, in addition to keeping them informed about the latest developments in the field of law and the judiciary..The seeds of the GLC Reporter were sown about a month back, in the course of a casual conversation between two final semester students (3 year batch) Ajith and Roopak who are also members of Clinical Justice Education Organization (CLIJOE), a legal aid clinic, GLC Reporter was immediately nourished with the help of Shri. Thilakanandan C, head of CLIJEO and other members of CLIJEO..GLC Reporter being an official wall magazine of CLIJEO, regularly reports various programmes and initiatives launched by this immensely popular organization. The magazine devotes a space for reporting the weekly discussions and debates taking place under the CLIJEO Discussion Forum..The inaugural issue concentrated on the winds of change blowing in the legal education sector in the state of Kerala. The editorial focused on the importance of having a wall magazine and the role that “GLC Reporter” envisaged for itself. It also carried a special feature –“Virtual Battle” which detailed an intense debate on the need to ban hartals, taking place on Facebook among the students of GLC..“The idea of ‘Virtual Battle’ was in part inspired by the role played by social networking sites like Facebook in the course of the ‘Arab Spring’ movement during the course of which, the people in countries like Egypt made use of these social networking sites to carry the message of ‘Change’ and further the movement for ushering in democracy.
