Over the last two years, we have built a network of Campus Ambassadors across more than fifty law schools all over India. These law students have been providing us with information on campus events and activities, and also sharing legal articles.

This series of interviews is meant to turn the spotlight on these hardworking and dedicated individuals.

In this edition, we speak with Devansh Malhotra, a third year student at the National Law Institute University in Bhopal.

Why did you choose to study law?

It was in class 8 when I made my mind to study law and I am thankful to my parents who helped me to realize this dream of mine. Further, I opted for Law because it makes one an informed citizen and gives an opportunity to work for the weaker sections of the society in one way or the other.

Also, law makes a person to think in an analytical and holistic manner, apart from the basic argumentative skillset it grants. Law in a way makes me feel empowered and at the same time, it puts a great responsibility on me that I have to work for the people and my country, thereby ensuring the basic rights due to them.

What made you apply for the Campus Ambassador post at Bar & Bench?

I believe that by working as a campus ambassador for an esteemed organization such as Bar & Bench will add to my skill set and hone my personality. Further, in my honest and sincere belief I think that by working as a campus ambassador for Bar & Bench I would be able to explore the field of Legal Journalism.

What are your plans after completing law?

After the recent BCI decisions which are majorly impacting the legal education sector in the country, I am reconsidering my plans after law.

I am thinking to pursue litigation as a career option after my graduation or else I'll appear in the UPSC CSE and serve the nation.
