The National Law School of India University, Bangalore will be hosting the First NLSIU Alumni Worldwide Conference on Legal Services, Legal Education and the State of the Profession: Emerging Challenges on April 25 and 26.
Sundari R Pisupati, advocate at Hyderabad and an alumnus of the 1993 batch spoke to Bar & Bench about the idea behind the conference.
“Dr. Madhava Menon felt that now since the alumni of NLS has so much experience in multiple fields, they could come together and share their thoughts on the topics of the seminar. We are looking at the areas of reform and how we can contribute to the profession. There will also be a lot of overseas participation at the seminar.”
The two-day event will have sessions on State of the Legal Profession, Continuing Legal Education and the Role of Bar Councils and Associations and the Role of the Judiciary and Access to Justice, among others.
Pramod Rao, General Counsel of Citibank India and a product of the 1996 NLSIU batch added,
“Stakeholders from across different fields of the legal profession – the corporate sector, the bar councils, the bench, the law schools etc. will be appearing for the conference to share their views and ideas.”
Justice Gopala Gowda is expected to be the guest of honour. Union Law Minister DV Sadananda Gowda will also be present at the seminar.
