NLU Jodhpur releases final tally of placements; Total of 58 students placed in Batch of 2013 as per official figures

Professor Daga of the National Law University, Jodhpur (NLU-J) has confirmed that the placement figures provided earlier were correct except in connection with three institutes. He said that the final number of placements (58) reflected the total number of students placed in the Class of 2013.

In an e-mail response, Professor Daga, who is the Executive Chairman of the Placement Bureau at NLU-J, wrote that that this final number “includes the PPOs as also the students who were offered jobs through their personal efforts/ connections”.

The Executive Chairman did say that there were three discrepancies in the earlier list provided, namely:

1.     The placement of one student at Powergrid was not mentioned

2.     The number of students placed at SEBI was 2 instead of 4 (the other 2 did not accept the offer made by SEBI); and

3.     No students were placed in the WTO

As per numbers provided by students involved in the recruitment process, a total of 36 students were placed. The two lists, for the purpose of comparison are available below:

This year has seen different law schools adopting varying policies when it comes to the publication of placement figures. For instance, NALSAR University chose to provide the number of offers received by students while the placement cells at NLSIU and GNLU have evidently taken a policy decision to refrain from providing placement statistics.
