Vurrakula Kesava Rao, a former Professor of Law at National Law University, Odisha (NLU O), has been appointed Vice-Chancellor-in charge of Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University (DSNLU) Visakhapatnam. He replaces Prof EA Narayana Murthy as VC-in charge.

Prof SKD Rao, the Vice-Chancellor of NLU O, has confirmed the appointment.

Prof Kesava Rao has over 33 years of teaching experience and has served as Professor of Law and Dean, Faculty of Law at Andhra University. He was also the Principal of NBM Law College, Andhra University, and had a stint as Registrar of Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna in 2007-08. Prior to that, he was the Director of the Institute of Law and Ethics in Medicine at NLSIU, Bangalore in 2002-03.

The change of guard comes even as DSNLU plans to shift to a new campus in Sabbavaram. Earlier this month, Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad DB Bhosale, who is also Chancellor of DSNLU, was reported to have expressed satisfaction with the upcoming facilities on the new campus.

Among the facilities are a moot court hall which covers 3,500 square feet and a library with an area of 7,500 square feet. There will also be separate, double occupancy hostels for boys and girls.

The shift to the new campus is likely to happen in September this year.
