Bar & Bench

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved the merger of Mylan with Pfizer-owned Upjohn Inc., in one of the biggest pharmaceutical deals worldwide.

The new combined company, likely to be named Viatris, is expected to have revenues of about USD 20 billion in 2020.

The merger will aid each business in serving patients’ needs and expand their capabilities across more than 165 markets.

A team from L&L Partners - comprising Partner Kanika Chaudhary Nayar, Partner-Designate Rudresh Singh and Managing Associate Divye Sharma - provided strategic advice to Mylan and filed a notification before the CCI in January 2020. The Commission granted permission for the merger today.

Upjohn Inc was represented by Veritas Legal.
