

Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) has secured a landmark ¥28 billion syndicated sustainable term loan facility from Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, GIFT City Branch.
SMBC Singapore acted as Mandated Lead Arranger and Bookrunner, Sustainability Coordinator and Agent.
Luthra and Luthra Law Offices India advised IREDA on all aspects of the transaction, including ECB and NBFC regulatory structuring, transaction documentation, sustainable finance framework alignment, and key financing terms tailored to IREDA as a Government of India-owned NBFC.
The transaction was led by Girish Rawat (Senior Partner), with support from Zeeshan Ali Khan (Partner) and Pranav Dwivedi (Associate).
The transaction is expected to further strengthen IREDA’s role in financing renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in India, supporting the country’s clean energy ambitions and sustainable growth agenda.
