Nishith, Tatva, Simpson, Pillsbury lead on Aricent’s acquisition of SmartPlay for 1,100 crore

Aricent Inc, a US-based company providing software and engineering services, has acquired Bangalore-based chip design services company SmartPlay Technologies for 1,100 crore ($180 million).

Nishith Desai Associates acted as domestic legal counsel for Aricent while Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP acted as international counsel.

The Nishith team was led by Partner Vaibhav Parikh; Rajesh Simhan, Head International Tax; Sangeeta Rana, co-head Bangalore office along with Prasad Subramanyan and Vandana V while the Simpson team was led by Partner Mark Pflug.

Tatva Legal with a team led by Partner Dilip N.K. along with Rashmi Talukdar advised SmartPlay while Partner Armando Castro from Pillsbury Winthrop acted as their U.S counsel.
