Trilegal drives Tesla's India Entry

Trilegal has advised Maker Group on the licensing of its premium retail premises in the iconic Maker Maxity, Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), to Tesla India.

The Firm advised on the legal aspects of the transaction including structuring and documentation whilst also leveraging their deep experience and expertise in real estate and retail leasing.

The Trilegal Real Estate Team advising on the matter was led by Monika Bhonsale (Partner), with support from Maithili Vagal (Counsel) and Saee Pendse (Associate).

The presence of Tesla at Maker Maxity at Mumbai’s elite financial district sets a precedent for the growing influx of international marquee names entering the Indian market.

Sales of electric vehicles (EVs) in India saw a notable increase in January 2025, with a 19.4% MoM and 17.1% YoY growth, reaching 1,69,931 units as per IBEF.
