Behind the Bookshelves is a segment where we delve into the reading habits of trailblazers and news makers from across the legal fraternity.

In the sixth edition, we find out the literary interests of Senior Advocate and Additional Solicitor General Madhavi Divan, who reveals how her parents shaped her reading interests. Her mother, Nayana Goradia, was a published author, having written a biography on Lord Curzon.

She recalls,

"Lord Curzon was for a long time a bane in my life, because he occupied so much of my mother's time. The standing joke in our household was that I got to hear tales of Lord Curzon as bed-time stories!"

She also shares her love for the works of authors like Jhumpa Lahiri and Saadat Hasan Manto, and has an illuminating conversation with Nandini Khaitan on the translation of literary works from various languages to English.
