Senior Advocate and former Attorney General for India KK Venugopal on Saturday released Unfiltered and Unapologetic, the latest book by lawyer-author Shilpa Bhasin Mehra, at a ceremony held at his residence in New Delhi.
Praising Mehra, Venugopal said she was “not only an accomplished lawyer, but a compelling writer,” adding that “one day she will be famous as a writer, and I look forward to that day.”
The event, organised by Dr. Lalit Bhasin, President of the Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF), brought together jurists, educationists, members of the legal fraternity, family and friends. Published by Oakbridge Publishing under its imprint Cursive, the book was described as a candid and relatable reflection on authenticity, resilience, and humor in everyday life.
Venugopal recalled Mehra’s early writing days, quoting passages from the book and highlighting its emphasis on encouragement, family values, and the importance of not letting work wholly define one’s identity. “Her book is filled with nuggets of wisdom, reflecting her determination to share a piece of herself with the world,” he noted
Dr. Atul Chauhan, Chancellor of Amity University, attended as Guest of Honour. Congratulating the author, he said, “I wish you had written it earlier, I would have learned many things in life.” He observed that the book’s lessons on empathy and cherishing relationships resonated deeply, and suggested that Mehra’s insights would be valuable for students
Oakbridge Publishing’s Director and Publisher, Vikesh Dhyani, opened the event by calling the work “a conversation that is honest, heartfelt, witty, and as the title suggests, unapologetically real.”
In her remarks, Mehra thanked her mentors, family, and publishers. “The happiest people in the world are not the ones that have the best of everything, but they make the best of everything that comes their way,” she said, drawing warm applause.
Unfiltered and Unapologetic combines storytelling with reflections on life’s contradictions, urging readers to embrace authenticity and courage while finding humor and meaning in the everyday.
