AZB, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas give Tata-Air India deal wings

The acquisition included Air India's shareholding interest in Air India Express Limited and Air India SATS Airport Services Private Limited.

AZB & Partners and Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas have acted on Tata Group's recently concluded acquisition of Air India.

Talace Private Limited, which is a subsidiary of Tata Sons, had placed the winning bid of ₹18,000 crore for the airline.

The transaction does not include assets like land and buildings, which are valued at over ₹14,000 crore. The same will be transferred to the government.

Tata Sons will acquire Air India, 50 per cent of Air India-Sats, and Air India Express. The government will get ₹ 2,700 crore in cash from the Air India sale.

AZB & Partners advised Talace Private Limited and Tata Sons through a team headed by Founder & Managing Partner Zia Mody, Senior Partners Gautam Saha and Akhilesh Kumar Rai, along with Partners Anuja Tiwari, Swati Chauhan, Bharath Budholia, Divya Mundra and Gaurav Bansal.

Senior Associates Shivranjani Ralawata, Mallika Anand, Amoolya Khurana, Rishiraj Baruah, Sugandha B Bhatia, Nikita Agarwal and Devika Nayak; as well as Associates Shubham Toshniwala, Aditi Somani, Abhilasha Agarwal, Prateek Ghei, Ayusha Choudhary, Vedant Malpani, Dev Jain, Shambhavi Singh, Arzan Zarolia, Ritul Singh and Vayshnavi Ganesh were also part of the team.

Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas acted for Government of India. The team was led by Partner Amita Katragadda along with Associate Preksha Malik.
