DLA Piper has bagged two QIP mandates with Shriram Transport’s $125 million (Rs. 575 crore) QIP and Usha Martin’s $100 million (Rs. 460 crore) QIP..DLA Piper has been increasingly active in the India market, and had hired Biswajit Chaterjee from Allen & Overy to boost their India practice. In November ’09, they completed the Rs. 1,000 crore ($ 216 million) QIP of Aban Offshore. Biswajit along with the Stephen Peepels, the Capital Markets Head at the Singapore office advised both Shriram Transport and Usha Martin..J. Sagar Associates’ Mumbai offices were the domestic counsel for Shriram Transport. Crawford Bailey’s Mumbai offices and DLA Piper were the advisors on the domestic legal issues and International legal issues respectively, to the Lead Mangers, CitiGroup Global Markets, IDFC-SSKI and Bank of America Merrill Lynch..Khaitan & Co. and DLA Piper were the domestic and international counsel respectively for Usha Martin on the QIP issue.
