The Supreme Court has received 293 applications from advocates seeking designation as Senior Advocates.

The applications were received following notices issued on February 12 and February 19, 2026, inviting eligible advocates to apply for the designation.

In a notice issued on March 16, the Court’s Committee for Designation of Senior Advocates (CDSA) invited suggestions and views from members of the Bar and other stakeholders on the proposals for designation.

The inputs received will be placed before the Full Court for consideration in accordance with the Guidelines for Designation of Senior Advocates, 2026.

The notice said that any suggestions or views presented must be supported by verifiable material and submitted to the CDSA Secretariat at the Supreme Court or sent by email.

Such submissions must be made by 4:30 PM on April 1, 2026, the notice further states, adding that inputs received after the deadline will not be considered.

Earlier, it was clarified that advocates whose applications had not been rejected by the Supreme Court or any High Court in the past two years were eligible to apply. The said notice further stated that advocates whose applications had not been deferred by any court in the last year could also submit fresh applications.
