[Exclusive]: Anand and Anand’s Binny Kalra and four others team up to set up Ira Law

Former Anand and Anand Senior Partner Binny Kalra – along with lawyers Abhilasha Nautiyal, Aditya Gupta, Kruttika Vijay and Raunaq Kamath – has set up a flat structured law firm called Ira Law in Delhi..The new firm will focus on intellectual property laws, the full gamut of litigation and dispute resolution, insolvency and winding up, transactional advice, competition law, consumer protection laws, data privacy and protection, and media and advertising..Kalra has left Anand and Anand after spending 27 years at the firm, during which she worked with and managed large teams and complex portfolios. She specializes in providing advice and strategy to clients in handling IP challenges and disputes..Commenting on the new firm and the idea behind it, Kalra, on behalf of the founders, said,.“The idea behind Ira Law is to present an alternate model of law practice in India. We work on the basis of agreed principles captured in our firm constitution. .An important defining feature of Ira Law is that it’s a “flat” organization. This is reflected, for instance, in our firm name and uniform designations. We will look to create well-rounded lawyers, with a good work-life balance.”.All the other four founders have also spent a significant number of years at Anand and Anand. Abhilasha Nautiyal is a 2010 graduate of Army Law School and holds an LL.M. from Harvard Law School. Raunaq Kamath is a graduate of Symbiosis Law School..Aditya Gupta last worked in the Chambers of Amit Sibal. He is a graduate of NLU, Jodhpur and holds an LL.M from Harvard Law School..Kruttika is a graduate of NALSAR and holds an LL.M. from Stanford University. She is now associated with the Chambers of Rajshekhar Rao.
