Delhi-based law firm Arthe Law has merged its practice with Bharucha & Partners. The development was just now confirmed by Bharucha & Partners Senior Partner Alka Bharucha.
Post this merger, Arthe Law will be part of Bharucha & Partners and the merged firm will continue under the “Bharucha & Partners” banner. The merger will be effective from November 1, 2017.
With this merger, the firm will now have 12 Partners and about 70 lawyers across its offices.
The 12 Partners are MP Bharucha, Alka Bharucha, DP Singh, Abhishek Malhotra, Justin Bharucha, Vishnu Dutt, Vandana Pai, Arjun Anand, Deepak Biswas, Kaushik Moitra, Ajai Achuthan, and Sonam Gupta.
‘Arthe Law’ was formed in April 2017 after Abhishek Malhotra merged his firm TMT Law Practice with Delhi-based Dispute Resolution and Corporate Advisory law firm, DPSA Legal.
Commenting on the merger,
MP Bharucha said,
“In a short time, Arthe has built a very successful practice banking on the years spent by DP and Abhishek in their respective practices. We have been speaking with each other for quite a while and we are glad to now share the news.”
Alka Bharucha: “Over the past 6 months, we have achieved a lot inter se, including working together on mandates as co- counsel. This announcement is the precursor to our mission of client satisfaction, and other progressive and significant plans for both the near and distant future.”
DP Singh: “When DPSA merged with TMT, I was quoted by the Economic Times as saying that ‘it is admittedly our endeavour to speak with more intellectually compatible lawyers, to help get even more smart people in the room.’ The merger is a demonstration of what I said. All of us are in this partnership because we love the law, believe in excellence and look for like-minded lawyers. We will continue adding to our strengths.”
Abhishek Malhotra: “Justin and I went to Law School together and he, Alka and MP have known DP for a few years now. When the Arthe merger was announced, they were one of the first to congratulate us, and since then we have been working towards the merger.”
Justin Bharucha: “It was advantageous that DP and Abhishek had already done this exercise once; they were perfectly placed to help us get the process right and ensure that a solid foundation was in place prior to the merger actually taking place. We and all our lawyers are raring to go forward come the 1st of November.”
