This year’s Economic Times 40 under 40: Celebrating Young Leaders list is out. Among this list are two lawyers – Avaantika Kakkar of Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas and Srinath Dasari of AZB & Partners.
Both Avaantika and Srinath are graduates of ILS Law College, Pune.
Avaantika graduated in 2003 and joined Nishith Desai Associates in 2004 after a short stint at Udwadia & Udeshi. In 2005, she moved to Khaitan & Co, where she was part of the Competition team. Recently, she left Khaitan to join Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas as Head of the firm’s Competition Practice in Mumbai.
For Avaantika, success is,
“About the journey, as much as it is about the destination; about equanimity in the face of success and failure, and the will to start again.”
Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas Managing Partner, Cyril Shroff commented,
“Avaantika truly deserves to be in The Economic Times 40 under Forty as she is one of the finest and Competition lawyers in India and is recognized by International Who’s Who amongst ‘World’s Leading Competition Lawyers’.
She was also involved in the filing the first few leniency applications before the CCI, and her outstanding expertise in complex merger filings, and in providing strategic support on commercial arrangements and compliance issues truly sets her apart.”
Srinath Dasari is a partner at AZB & Partners and is part of the firm’s corporate practice group. His practice focuses on public market and private mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity and venture capital transactions, and restructuring exercises in diverse sectors.
After graduating in 2002, he initially worked at Trilegal before joining AZB in 2004. He was made Partner in 2009.
According to him, success means,
“Earning the goodwill of those who are important to you, and having the ability to achieve your objective without stepping over someone or compromising on your own code.”
AZB Managing Partner Zia Mody commented,
“We are delighted Srinath has been awarded this very prestigious award. It is well deserved. He is an integral part of our firm and its future.”
