Baker & McKenzie hires Sonia Baldia as Partner to boost India Practice

Sonia Baldia has joined Baker & McKenzie’s North American International Commercial Practice as a Partner in Washington DC.

Baldia’s work focuses on India inbound and outbound transactions, and she will be part of the firm’s India Focus Group.

She joins the firm from Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP, where she was a Partner. She has previously worked at Mayer Brown LLP as a Partner and Co-Chair of the firm’s global India Practice.

She is qualified to practice law in India, in addition to her US bar admissions, and is a registered patent attorney in both the US and India.

Richard Dean, Managing Partner of the firm’s Washington, DC office said that,

“Sonia brings extensive experience advising on sourcing, technology and IP matters, and has the knowledge necessary to ensure our multinational clients take advantage of the valuable opportunities in India and around the world,”

Baldia graduated from Delhi University’s Faculty of Law in 1991 and did her LL.M. from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1992. She also completed her S.J.D. from George Washington University Law School in 1998.

The firm has also recently hired Pallavi Gopinath Aney from Linklaters as a Partner in Singapore office.
