

In 2017, then Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra had urged the Chief Justices of High Courts to consider constituting special benches on Saturdays to hear criminal and jail appeals.
Present CJI Surya Kant has now pushed the proposal further, asking the High Courts to work at least two Saturdays a month.
The High Courts of Delhi and Rajasthan have taken the lead and amended their rules to make two Saturdays a month working days. Other High Courts are yet to take a call.
It is clear that lawyers across different High Courts are divided over the issue. This survey aims to know the stand of one of the most important stakeholders - the Bar.
