The Bar Council of Delhi (BCD) has suspended the licence of advocate Manish Sharma, who is also the senior vice-president of the Delhi Bar Association for his alleged involvement in a gun-firing incident at the Tis Hazari District Court, Delhi. .A letter issued by the Secretary of BCD, Col. (Retd.) Arun Sharma, stated that Sharma was clearly identifiable in a viral video of the incident, which took place earlier today. "You being an advocate resorting to violence that too inside the court premises is highly deplorable and is gross misconduct," the letter stated.."The Chairman of Bar Council of Delhi under the power vested with him in section Rule 42, Chapter-IV of Bar Council of Delhi Rules, has suspended your licence to practice as an advocate, with immediate effect," the letter added. .The BCD also called upon Sharma to submit his written explanation and appear before the Bar Council of Delhi on July 7, 2023, at 4 PM, failing which ex-parte action would be initiated against him. .Lawyers clash, fire shots in Delhi's Tis Hazari Court.As per the local police, two groups of lawyers including office bearers of the bar association allegedly hurled verbal abuses and fired gunshots in the air after an argument this afternoon. However, the police clarified that no one was injured in the clash.The BCD has taken suo motu cognisance of the incident. Meanwhile, officials from the Subzi Mandi Police Station said that legal action would be initiated by the police.
