Breaking: Karnataka High Court, subordinate courts to commence limited functioning from June 1 after 2 months of video conference hearings

The notice issued in this regard states that the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) applicable from June 1 will be published in the official website of the High Court of Karnataka and the District Courts on May 26.

After two months of conducted sittings only through video conferencing in view of the COVID-19 Lockdown, the Karnataka High Court has decided to commence limited functioning of the High Court, Trial Courts and District Courts from June 1 onwards.

The decision was taken by the Court on May 22.

The notice issued in this regard states that the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) applicable from June 1 will be published in the official website of the High Court of Karnataka and the District Courts on May 26.

It is further informed that Chief Justice Abhay Sreeniwas Oka and other senior Judges of the High Court of Karnataka will address the office bearers of all the Bar Associations on May 27, 5.00 pm, by convening a web meeting to seek the co-operation of the members of the Bar.

If there are any queries pertaining to SOP, the Bar Associations may forward the same to the Registrar General through the Principal District and Sessions Judges/ Principal Judges. The last date for submitting such queries is May 27, 2020, the notice reads.

Earlier, it was notified that all Benches of the Karnataka High Court, district courts and tribunals in the state would remain closed until June 6 in view of the extended COVID-19 Lockdown.
