Calcutta High Court permits Ram Navami Shobha Yatra in Howrah

Violence had broken out last year between the Hindus and Muslims along the route towards Howrah Maidan. Therefore, the West Bengal government had suggested an alternative route this year to avoid such clashes.

The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday permitted two Hindu organisations - Anjani Putra Sena and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad - to carry out their annual Ram Navami Shobha Yatra (processions) in Howrah district on April 17 [Anjani Putra Sena vs State of West Bengal].
