The Calcutta High Court today informed that it is slated to decide on the conferment of senior designations to several lawyers, after a gap of more than five years..Chief Justice TS Sivagnanam informed of the development this morning, remarking that things are moving now after five and a half years."There are more than 130 candidates that we have shortlisted. A list of their names will be uploaded today by evening. Then we will call them for an interaction and then a score sheet will be maintained. The committee will form an opinion and finally place it before the full court and final names will be shortlisted," the Chief Justice said. .On a related note, the Gujarat High Court recently designated seven lawyers as senior advocates. The decision was taken at a full court meeting of the Gujarat High Court held on January 11.The Supreme Court also held a meeting earlier this week, on January 16, to consider around 200 applications received by it for the senior gown.
