Campus Law Centre DU Team 2 wins inaugural Law Alumni Golf Championship in Chandigarh

Campus Law Centre (CLC), Delhi University's (DU) Team 2 has won the inaugural Law Alumni Golf Championship (LAGC) 2026, held at the Chandigarh Golf Club on September 5.

The winning team comprised Ankush Das, Inderbir Singh Alag, Ravi Nanda and Mrinal Bharti.

CLC's Team 1, comprising JP Sengh, Sudhanshu Batra, Harkirat Sawhney and Sitesh Mukherjee, finished as first runners-up.

National Law University, Delhi (NLUD), represented by Dhruv Gupta, Keerat Dhillon, Akal Brar and Precious Kelson, finished as second runners-up.

All three top team positions, in a competition played in the Double Peoria Net format, went to Delhi-based institutions.

The championship was organised by the Legal Fairways Foundation in association with DLF. It is being described as India's first inter-law school alumni golf tournament. The inaugural edition drew participation from 18 law schools and universities, bringing together judges, corporate counsel and lawyers from across the country.

Judges' honours

In the Judges' Gross category, Justice Alok Jain finished first with a score of 81, followed by Justice BS Walia with 82 and Justice PS Chauhan with 83. Justice Anupinder Singh Grewal won the Judges' Net category, with Justice Mahesh Grover as runner-up and Justice Arun Monga in third place. Justice Arun Monga also won the Longest Drive prize among judges, Justice Amit Rawal took Nearest to Pin and Justice Jaishree Thakur won Straightest Drive.

Lawyers' honours

Arjun Singh Rai of UILS Chandigarh's Team 1 won the lawyers' Gross category with a score of 75, edging out teammate Jaiveer Sandhu on a better back nine score of 36. Sandhu also carded 75 to finish runner-up. Karambir Singh Kharbanda of OP Jindal finished third with 78.

In the lawyers' Net category, Vidushpat Singhania of GLC Bombay won with a score of 65. NALSAR's Nishant Prasad was runner-up with 66, while NLU Delhi's Akal Brar took third place with 67. The special prizes among lawyers went to Ramandeep Singh for Longest Drive, Sitesh Mukherjee for Straightest Drive and Jaiveer Sandhu for Nearest to Pin.

The championship was conceived by the Legal Fairways Foundation as a platform to bring the legal fraternity together outside the traditional professional environment. Its tagline is "Where Law Meets the Fairway." The Foundation is led by Amardeep Singh Sukhija as President, with Tarun Vir Singh Lehal as Vice President, Gurmandeep Singh Sullar as Secretary and Deepak Bhardwaj as Treasurer. Its wider team includes Abhilaksh Grover, Gaurav Gurcharan Singh Rai, Anmol Partap Singh Mann, Amrinder Singh, Varun Tandon and Gurmohan Singh Bedi.

Organisers said the tournament is expected to grow into a larger national event in the coming years.

The 18 participating institutions were Punjab University, UILS, NLSIU, AIL, Symbiosis, CLC (DU), NLU Delhi, NLU Bhopal, NALSAR, GLC, NLU Jodhpur, HP University, Amity Delhi, Chaudhary Charan Singh University, OP Jindal, APS-MP, KU and Punjabi University, Patiala.

The event was supported by DLF, GD Group, AKAI, UltraLite, KazarMax Premium, Darja, Lehalco, Greg Norman, Barista, Vivo X300 Series, Nik Bakers, Hair Masters, Globe Toyota, Golfasian, Kairali and NiB.
