The Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) has appointed Mihir Rale, Partner, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, as Chair and Dibyajyoti Das, Head of Legal & Compliance, Experian India, as Co-Chair of its Legal Tech Committee.

The Legal Tech Committee is a pioneering platform that brings together General Counsels, law firms and legal tech solution providers for peer-to-peer engagement, knowledge sharing, and collaboration.

The platform comes at a time when India’s digital economy is evolving rapidly, and businesses are navigating an expanding set of laws, regulations, and compliance requirements. As technology increasingly cuts across traditional sectors, the answer to every new business model or emerging risk need not always be a new law or an additional layer of compliance.

Constituted as IAMAI’s standing panel of legal experts, the Legal Tech Committee brings together general counsels, law firms and legal technology companies. It also serves as a legal resource for IAMAI’s sectoral committees where regulatory or legal expertise is required. The Committee examines areas where laws overlap, create uncertainty or add unnecessary compliance, with a focus on making regulation simpler and more effective for India’s digital economy.

Rale, Chair, IAMAI Legal Tech Committee, said,

“As India’s growth increasingly revolves around corresponding progress of the digital economy, the challenge is not simply to have more regulation, but to have regulation that works. A framework that, in equal measure, fuels innovation, protects consumers and addresses genuine risk, without adding unnecessary or overlapping regulatory requirement is the need of the hour. Through this Committee, we hope to weave the experience and dexterity of legal practitioners into the conversation to make the case for laws that speak to this ambition.”
