Caregivers can't be forced to work all day; limit it to 8 hours a day: Kerala Administrative Tribunal

Five caregivers approached the tribunal alleging that they were being forced to work 24 hours a day for six days a week in State-run care homes.

The Kerala Administrative Tribunal (KAT) at Thiruvananthapuram recently held that forcing ayahs (caregivers, nursemaids) to work round-the-clock without proper breaks was arbitrary and violative of their rights under Article 21 of the Constitution [Sethulakshmi & Ors v State of Kerala & Ors.
