[Demonetisation] Will first examine if case has become an academic exercise and needs to be heard at all: Supreme Court

The Court asked whether it would be prudent for a Constitution bench to spent its time on an academic exercise in view of the fact that the pendency before the top court is already high.

In the plea challenging the Central government's 2016 decision to demonetise of ₹500 and ₹1000 banknotes, the Supreme Court on Friday said that it will first examine whether the issue has been rendered a mere academic exercise and needs to be heard at all.
