A Kerala court on Saturday issued summons to filmmaker Sanal Kumar Sasidharan, Meta and journalist Shajan Scaria in a defamation case filed by actress Manju Warrier [Manju Warrier v Sanal Kumar Sasidharan & ors]..Third Additional Munsiff (RCC) court Reeja R Nair heard the plea and asked the defendants to respond to the suit. It will be heard next on November 5..The suit was filed after Sasidharan made false and defamatory statements about Warrier on Facebook.Warrier alleged that Sasidharan made claims concerning her personal life, including that the two had been in a romantic relationship and had exchanged personal communications."The First Defendant (Sasidharan), being fully aware of the true circumstances, has deliberately suppressed the same and fabricated an entirely different story so as to portray the Plaintiff as a helpless person controlled by others and thereby undermine her dignity, independence and reputation," Warrier added.She stated that even after she approached the police accusing Sasidharan of stalking and harassing her, he continued publishing defamatory content about her.Warrier, therefore, approached the Court seeking directions against Sasidharan to remove the allegedly defamatory content about her from his social media accounts and to restrain him from publishing or circulating such content in the future.Warrier sought similar directions against Scaria alleging that he published and circulated Sasidharan's allegations by adding his own commentary.She has also sought directions against Meta to to remove or disable access to such content on its platforms..The plea has been moved by advocate Santhi M.
