Collegium recommends three Advocates for elevation to Bombay, Orissa and Jammu & Kashmir High Courts

The Supreme Court Collegium has issued statements recommending the elevation of one Advocate each as judges of the High Courts of Bombay, Orissa, and Jammu & Kashmir.

Abhay Kumar Ahuja has been recommended for elevation as a judge of the Bombay High Court.

Ahuja was among the lawyers recommended for elevation by the Bombay High Court Collegium back in May 2018. In March 2019, the Supreme Court Collegium had deferred the proposal to elevate Ahuja, pending the examination of certain information to be received from the Bombay High Court Chief Justice.

Savitri Ratho has been recommended for elevation to the Orissa High Court.

Javed Iqbal Wani has been recommended for elevation to the Jammu & Kashmir High Court. Wani has served as Senior Additional Advocate General for the erstwhile state. He is the son-in-law of Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association President Mian Qayoom, who was been detained since the abrogation of Article 370 in J&K.
