Our goal is to ensure that competition law enforcement evolves in tandem with these innovations, safeguarding the interests of consumers and ensuring fair play," the CCI Chairperson said.One such initiative in this direction is the Draft Digital Competition Bill, Kaur added..Kaur was addressing a gathering on the 15th annual day of the CCI, where Attorney General (AG) for India R Venkataramani was the Chief Guest.In her speech, the Chairperson also highlighted the CCI's efforts to strengthen international outreach, stating,"We are also strengthening our international outreach to exchange best practices, enhance our capabilities and recognize that in a globalized economy, cooperation is key for effective enforcement.".The digital economy offers immense opportunities for innovation, growth, and consumer benefit, but has challenged traditional competition law frameworks worldwide, she pointed out.Addressing these challenges requires regulatory agility, development of new analytical tools, and, possibly, novel regulatory frameworks specifically tailored to the digital context, she said."To ensure that digital markets remain competitive and fair, we must confront these challenges head-on, with a commitment to adapt our policies, enforcement strategies, and legal frameworks to the realities of the digital age," she added.
