Coronavirus: CESTAT not to sit from March 16-20, urgent matters to be mentioned before Registry [Read Notification]

It has been notified that the Benches of the Customs, Excise and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal (CESTAT), including the Regional Benches, will not sit from March 16 to Match 20, as a precautionary measure in view of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

It has been further notified that all tours of the Members stands cancelled during this period.

Only urgent matters, if found to be appropriate, will be heard on mention by the Advocates before the Registry.

The notification issued on Friday states that the decision has been taken by the President, CESTAT following consultation with Senior Members of the Tribunal, in the interest of the safety of lawyers, representatives, staff, litigants and visitors.

The order was issued, bearing in mind that the Government has also cautioned against large gatherings as measure to guard against the spread of Coronavirus.
