Bharat Bahadur leaves Indigo to join Akasa Airlines as Deputy General Counsel

Bahadur is moving following the news that Indigo General Counsel Priya Mehra is joining Rakesh Jhunjhunwala's Akasa Air as General Counsel at the end of this month.

Following the departure of Priya Mehra, Bharat Bahadur has left Indigo to join Akasa Airlines as Deputy General Counsel.

He was working as Associate General Counsel at Indigo.

Bahadur is a 2005 graduate of Amity Law School. Prior to joining Indigo along with Mehra, Bahadur worked with Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP in Singapore.

Before that, he was a Senior Associate with AZB & Partners for over five and a half years, prior to which he was a lawyer on secondment with Slaughter & May in London.

Akasa Air, backed by billionaire Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, recently got approval to commence operations from next year. It had previously received clearance from the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation to launch the country's latest ultra-low cost carrier.
