Chandhiok & Mahajan (C&M) has announced the election of Sujoy Bhatia as the firm's new Managing Partner, effective October 1, 2025.
Bhatia succeeds Pooja Mahajan, who has successfully led the firm for the past eight years and will remain actively engaged in its strategic direction and client relationships. Mahajan is widely credited with transforming C&M into one of India’s most respected and agile law firms. Under her leadership, the firm has built a reputation for commercial insight, a collaborative culture, and the ability to advise on complex legal and regulatory challenges.
Bhatia joined C&M in 2020 and leads the firm’s Corporate and M&A practices. He has over 21 years of experience advising on high-stakes mergers and acquisitions (M&A), corporate transactions, and complex regulatory matters for Indian and international businesses.
Speaking on Bhatia's appointment as Managing Partner, Pooja Mahajan shared,
“I can think of no better person than Sujoy to take C&M’s culture and ethos forward. After eight incredibly fulfilling years, it has been a rewarding journey, and I take great pride in what we have built together. Sujoy is an outstanding lawyer and a thoughtful leader—empathetic, principled, and commercially astute. The firm is in excellent hands.”
Bhatia commented,
“I’m honoured by the trust the partnership has placed in me and will continue to draw on Pooja’s counsel as we guide the firm through the evolving demands of India’s legal landscape. C&M today is a 100-plus lawyer firm across four offices. We are proud to be at the forefront of advising on some of the most cutting-edge and complex matters in the market. My focus will be on continuing to build a democratic, merit-based, and future-ready institution.”
