Deepak Singh has joined Chandhiok & Mahajan as a Partner to lead the firm's Technology, Digital & AI Practice.
Singh is a 2002 graduate of Government Law College, Mumbai.
He joins C&M with more than two decades of experience advising global technology companies on complex regulatory, commercial and litigation matters. Most recently, he served in a senior legal role at Google, where he advised on product counselling, digital regulation, strategic litigation, public policy, data governance and regulatory compliance across a broad range of technology products and digital services.
The Technology, Digital & AI Practice consolidates C&M's existing capabilities across technology, digital regulation and complex commercial advisory into a single, integrated offering, reflecting the increasing convergence of technology, regulation and business strategy. The practice advises clients across the full lifecycle of their most significant technology matters, including strategic transactions, regulatory investigations, enforcement proceedings and complex litigation involving the digital economy.
The practice focuses on legal and regulatory issues arising from artificial intelligence, digital platforms, online safety and content regulation, data access and portability, data privacy and cybersecurity, digital infrastructure and data centres, as well as the governance, development, commercialisation and responsible deployment of emerging technologies. It advises clients on the commercial and regulatory risks associated with developing, deploying, acquiring and scaling technology-enabled businesses.
Singh will lead a dedicated nine-member team and will work closely with lawyers across the firm's market-leading practices, including venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, competition law, data privacy and cybersecurity, project finance, real estate and dispute resolution. This multidisciplinary approach enables C&M to provide seamless advice on matters that increasingly span multiple regulatory regimes, industries and practice areas.
On Singh's joining, Karan Singh Chandhiok, Partner and Head of Competition & Regulatory at Chandhiok & Mahajan, said,
