Exclusive: Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas Senior Partner Ravindra Bandhakavi resigns with 3 other partners

Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas Partners Ravindra Bandhakavi, Amarta Roy, Poornima Singh and Srabanee Ghosh have resigned from the firm.

The four partners are in talks with Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas and are likely to join the firm, according to several reliable sources.

We have reached out to Bandhakavi and Pallavi Shroff of Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas for comment.

Confirming the exit of these partners, Cyril Shroff, Managing Partner of Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, said,

“This was in the works for a while. It’s a friendly exit. They will serve the notice period till November. We wish them all success."

A 1999 alumnus of the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, Bandhakavi has over 25 years of expertise in mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions.

He has collaborated with and provided advisory services to leading private equity firms and multilateral organisations on their equity investments across India and the broader South Asian region. His advice spans investors targeting early-stage to late-stage investments, as well as M&A deals across diverse sectors such as renewables, infrastructure, financial services, e-commerce, real estate and manufacturing.

Bandhakavi has been associated with CAM for the past 7 years. In the past, he had worked at the erstwhile Amarchand Mangaldas for a cumulative 10 years across two stints. Before joining CAM, he was a Partner at Trilegal.

A 2007 alumnus of NLSIU Bengaluru, Roy has over 13 years of experience in advising both domestic and international clients on private equity, joint ventures, financing, exits, demergers, alternative investment funds (AIFs) and general corporate advisory. He has represented clients on both the buyer and seller sides in private equity transactions and has collaborated with some of India’s largest business groups on business restructuring and overseas investments.

A 2016 alumna of Gujarat National Law University (GNLU), Singh possesses over 9 years of experience advising prominent private equity and financial investors on their equity investments in India across diverse sectors such as renewables, infrastructure, financial services, e-commerce and real estate. Her expertise includes advising on deal structuring, entry and exit strategies, as well as portfolio management-related matters.

Singh has been associated with CAM for the past 7 years.

A 2014 alumna Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), Ghosh has more than 9 years of experience advising private equity funds and development finance institutions on their equity investments and exits in India and South Asia. Additionally, she has provided counsel on numerous business and asset transfers within the pharmaceutical sector.

Ghosh has also been associated with CAM for the past 7 years.
