Khaled Al-Marri & Partners has announced the promotion of Soham Kumar to the position of Junior Partner.
Kumar has been associated with the firm for over 2 years, during which he has worked closely with the partners across dispute resolution and advisory mandates involving both regional and international clients. His practice includes commercial litigation, arbitration, regulatory disputes, and cross-border matters, with exposure to sectors such as real estate, infrastructure, financial services, and commercial contracts.
Kumar is an alumnus of Amity University and earned his LLM from Columbia University, New York, and is admitted to practise in India and the UAE. His academic background, combined with hands-on experience across complex disputes, has enabled him to work closely with international clients and advisors across jurisdictions.
In his role as Junior Partner, he will continue to work closely with the partners on disputes and advisory matters, while also taking on a greater role in managing client relationships and internal teams.
From the perspective of the firm’s dispute resolution leadership, Abdul Sattar Pirzada, Co-Founding Partner and Arbitration and International Disputes Practice Head, observed,
“Soham brings structure and calm to demanding matters. We have worked closely together in several high-pressure cases, and he has demonstrated excellent legal prowess as well as the ability to effectively manage client expectations. His elevation recognises the role he already plays in the firm’s day-to-day practice.”
From an institutional and advisory standpoint, Justice Talwant Singh, Chair of the Advisory Board, noted that Kumar’s growth mirrors the firm’s broader philosophy.
“Soham has shown a sound understanding of dispute strategy and the practical realities faced by clients, particularly in cross-border situations. His progression within the firm has been steady and substantive, and his promotion fits well with the firm’s emphasis on developing leadership internally”
Commenting on the firm’s approach to nurturing internal leadership, Founder, Kushagra Ashok Arora, said,
“Promotions and designations retain their true meaning when earned through resilience, professional and ethical excellence, and the confidence of clients and peers—not merely social familiarity or visibility in the usual places.
Soham’s admission to the partnership as Junior Partner reflects precisely that. It was, therefore, time to recognise his contributions and unwavering commitment to the common cause, for meaningful progress in any firm is rarely singular.
What has been gratifying is not merely the firm’s growth or pace, but the affirmation that serious, principled lawyering continues to attract discerning clients. We are encouraged by what has taken shape, and even more by what remains ahead.
I remain confident of his continued success”.
Speaking on the promotion, Kumar said,
“The last two years at Khaled Al-Marri & Partners have given me early responsibility, exposure to international clients, and the opportunity to learn closely from the partners. I am grateful for the trust placed in me and look forward to contributing more actively to the firm’s work and growth as a Junior Partner - building on this foundation with greater responsibility, stronger client relationships, and a continued commitment to excellence.”
In addition to the Partner announcement, the Firm has also announced the promotion of Simran Sharma to Senior Associate.
Sharma specialises in cross-border transactions and regulatory compliance, with over five years of experience advising global clients on M&A, PE/VC, and foreign direct investment mandates across sectors including Energy, Healthcare, and Technology. She holds a BA-LLB from Lloyd Law College and an LLM from O.P. Jindal Global Law School, and is a qualified and licensed lawyer in India.
