Poovayya & Co has announced the elevation of Mathuvanthy Mathavan, based in the firm’s New Delhi office, to the Partnership in the Firm’s dispute resolution practice.

Mathavan is a 2014 alumna of ILS Law College, Pune. She holds a Diploma in International Business and Corporate Law from Symbiosis Law School, Pune.

With over a decade of experience, Mathavan started her career with chamber practice, having worked under G. Rajagopalan, Additional Solicitor General of India, before transitioning to law firms.

She joined Poovayya in 2020 as a Senior Associate. In 2025, she joined X (formerly, Twitter) as a legal counsel on secondment. Upon her return to the Firm, Mathavan has been elevated to the position of a Partner.

On the elevation, Sanjanthi Poovayya, Managing Partner of Poovayya & Co. said,

“Our partnership today brings together lawyers of remarkably varied backgrounds from different cities, schools, languages, and paths to the profession, and that plurality is a deliberate strength, not an accident. Mathuvanthy’s elevation reflects exactly that ethos: she has earned this through sustained excellence in the courtroom and in the trust that she has built with clients. The firm is genuinely proud of the culture of merit and inclusion we have worked assiduously to foster, and Mathuvanthy embodies it. My warmest congratulations to her.”

The firm’s Dispute Resolution Practice Head, Manu Kulkarni, added,

“Our disputes team has grown into one of the largest and most broad-based in the country, spanning commercial litigation, arbitration (domestic and international), regulatory disputes, white-collar investigations, and insolvency work, across our Bengaluru and New Delhi offices. That breadth is matched by the diversity of the lawyers themselves with colleagues trained across India and abroad. Mathuvanthy brings precisely the resilience, judgment, and client-first instinct this practice is built on, and I look forward to seeing her continue to shape what it stands for.”

Including the Partner promotions last month, Poovayya & Co now boasts a Partner strength of fifteen.
