[Exclusive] Sai Krishna Bharathan, Vivek Bajaj to leave AZB Partners for Trilegal after two decades; two more to follow

Three Partners from AZB & Partners' Mumbai office - Sai Krishna Bharathan, Pallabi Ghoshal and Shivani Kabra - as well as Bangalore AZB Partner Vivek Bajaj are leaving the firm to join Trilegal, according to sources..It is understood that Trilegal put these four names for voting last evening.We have reached out to both Trilegal Founder and Management Committee Partner Sridhar Gorthi and AZB Managing Partner Zia Mody for comment..Bharathan is a 1995 graduate of National Law School of India University, Bangalore (NLSIU). He joined AZB & Partners in 2002. He specialises in M&A, private equity, funds, FDI and real estate work.Ghoshal graduated from National Law Institute University, Bhopal (NLIU). Prior to joining AZB, Ghoshal was Principal Associate at Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas. She later moved to AZB with Ashwath Rau. She focuses on funds, financial regulatory, private client and general corporate work..Kabra graduated in law from University of Warwick and has an LPC in law from BPP Law School. She was with Herbert Smith Freehills for over 6 years after which she moved to Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas. In 2016, she joined AZB, and was made Partner in 2019..Vivek Bajaj graduated law in 2000 and started his career with Holla & Holla in Bangalore. He joined AZB in 2004 and was made Partner in 2009. The focal areas of his practice are mergers and acquisitions, private equity, commercial law, real estate and product liability in India..Trilegal has, over the years, hired a number of lateral partners from AZB. Nisha Uberoi moved to set up the Trilegal Competition practice in 2017 from AZB, followed by Ganesh Rao and Aditya Jha in 2018 to set up the funds practice, Harsh Maggon on the public M&A and takeover side and most recently, Richa Choudhary joined Trilegal as a Partner in its Capital Markets practice..Formal confirmation on when the voting closes is awaited.
