Disputes Partner Poornima Hatti has retired from Samvād: Partners to set up her own counsel practice.

Hatti was with Samvād for more than 15 years and oversaw the firm's growth, in particular its disputes practice.

Through setting up her own practice, she hopes to continue to deepen her work on corporate and commercial matters, particularly investment and shareholder disputes, employment and oppression and mismanagement disputes. She is of the opinion that being an independent counsel will also mean that she will be able to sit as an arbitrator in both domestic and regional disputes, without the worry of conflicts that arise in the context of a firm.

She has worked in Bangalore, London, New Delhi and Singapore and is based out of Bangalore. Hatti often sits as an arbitrator and mediator.

On this development, Hatti commented,

“It has been a very memorable journey at Samvād: Partners and I am proud of what we achieved over the years. It is time now for me to focus on the next phase of my career as counsel. Through chamber practice, one can focus on a wider range of disputes. The specialization will continue to be corporate and commercial work. I also hope to sit as an arbitrator more frequently in both domestic and cross border complex commercial disputes.”
