Shantanu Mitra joins Fox & Mandal as Partner to lead Securities and Capital Markets Practice

Fox & Mandal has announced the addition of Shantanu Mitra as a Partner to head its Securities and Capital Markets Practice.

With over a decade and a half of experience in securities law and capital markets, he shall be joining the Kolkata Office of the firm.

Mitra graduated from NUJS, Kolkata in 2007. His career includes significant roles at SEBI, where he was deeply involved in regulatory litigation and investigations. During his professional journey, Mitra has worked with prominent law firms in the country including Desai & Diwanji, Phoenix Legal, Rajani Associates and others before making the move to Kolkata.

Mitra's practice at the firm will focus on a broad spectrum, including transactional work, dispute resolution, and advisory services in securities law.

During his time with SEBI, he was involved in high-profile investigations of securities law violations and fraud, representing SEBI and various market intermediaries before the Supreme Court of India, the Bombay High Court, and the Securities Appellate Tribunal. His expertise extends to advising on mutual funds, AIFs, insider trading, and fraudulent trade practices. He assists SEBI-registered intermediaries with their compliance needs and has also advised on numerous capital markets transactions, including IPOs, rights issues, and QIPs.

He will be leading a team of senior associates that has extensive experience and has worked on a number of IPOs, QIPs, block deals and open offers for issuer companies, selling shareholders, and merchant banks.
