Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co has been named the ‘Regional Firm of the Year - Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa’ 2021, at the 11th edition of Global Competition Review Awards 2021.

Over the last year, the Firm was involved in a number of major merger and enforcement cases.

The firm secured merger clearances for international transactions including Alstom/Bombardier, ZF Friedrichshafen/WABCO, Fiat Chrysler/Peugeot and Metso/Outotec.

On the domestic front, the team advised on some of the largest deals, obtaining unconditional approvals for Facebook’s acquisition of a stake in Jio Platforms, Reliance Retail’s acquisition of the Future Group and Flipkart’s investment in Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail.

Amongst enforcement cases that the firm was involved in, they successfully defended WhatsApp and Facebook in an abuse of dominance case relating to WhatsApp Pay and challenge for Uber in the Supreme Court in relation to allegations of cartelization.
