
Aparna Gaur and Tanisha Khanna have formed Trace Law Partners, a boutique law firm in Mumbai specialising in legal counsel for the digital and technology industries.
According to a press release, the name 'Trace Law Partners' was chosen to "reflect the firm's core mission: tracing the path from complexity to clarity for our client."
The firm's core areas of expertise include AI, intellectual property, data protection, cybersecurity, media and gaming.
Gaur is a 2014 graduate of National Law University, Jodhpur. She earned her LL.M. in Intellectual Property Law from George Washington University Law School in 2018.
She has over a decade of experience in intellectual property, education, and technology, media and telecommunications law. She advises Indian and international clients on data protection, cybersecurity, cross-border data transfers, online gaming, digital payments, e-commerce, advertising and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.
Khanna is a 2015 graduate of City St George’s, University of London.
She has nearly a decade of experience advising clients in the technology, media and entertainment, gaming and data protection space. Her practice spans regulatory, transactional and contentious matters. She has advised market leaders and Big Tech companies in the gaming, social media, music, OTT/streaming, travel aggregator, Adtech and e-commerce space on a variety of issues.
Both lawyers previously worked with Nishith Desai Associates.
Trace Law Partners also has Gowree Gokhale, solicitor and Nishith Desai veteran, serving as a mentor and strategic advisor.
On launching Trace Law Partners, Gaur stated,
“I've always wanted to build a practice where my passion for the law is at the very core of what we do. After a decade of working with some of the best TMT and IP teams in the country, I felt the time was right to become a strategic partner to our clients. The goal is to truly understand their needs and work as an extension of their team.”
Khanna added,
