
Nishith Desai Associates' Disputes Head, Vyapak Desai, is set to exit the firm to set up his own law chambers. Desai will focus on providing strategic legal advice and oral advocacy for complex cross-border litigations and arbitrations.
He is a 2000 graduate of Gujarat University. He earned him LLM in Corporate Laws from the same University.
With nearly two and a half decades of experience, Desai has pioneered the international arbitration space in India. Known for his clear, concise and commercially sound advice, he specialises in litigation and arbitration, both domestic and international, including BITs within financial services, TMT and infrastructure industries.
He has been associated with Nishith Desai Associates for the last two decades, launching and leading the International Disputes & Investigations practice, including the white-collar crime Practice, at the firm. In the past, he has also led the Capital Markets & Securities Law Practice as part of the corporate (M&A/PE) transactions group at the firm.
Prior to joining Nishith Desai Associates he had spent 5 years with law firm Singhi & Co in Ahmedabad and Mumbai.

Recently, Alipak Banerjee also left the firm to launch independent disputes practice and disputes chamber. Banerjee was associated with NDA for nearly 12 years and headed the firm's Dispute Resolution practice in New Delhi.
