Deepika Kinhal joins Centre for Online Resolution of Disputes as CEO

Deepika Kinhal, who leads Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy’s JALDI (Justice, Access and Lowering Delays in India) initiative, has shifted gears to don an entrepreneurial hat as CEO of Centre for Online Resolution of Disputes (CORD)..Kinhal is a 2012 graduate of National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore..In the last 7 years, Kinhal has engaged with the Indian judiciary at various levels. She was part of the eCommittee of the Supreme Court’s expert group constituted to envision Phase III of eCourts project. She was also part of the National Court Management Systems (NCMS) committee to draft recruitment and evaluation policies for judicial officers and the expert committee constituted by NITI Aayog to mainstream online dispute resolution (ODR) across the country. She has appeared before the Parliamentary Standing Committees on mediation and judicial impact assessment. At Vidhi, she initiated an Innovation Lab that sought to bring various disciplines together to solve for the judiciary..Kinhal has previously worked with the capital markets and real estate teams at Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, and in the litigation department at Dua Associates, Bangalore..Describing the move Kinhal said, “My role at CORD is a natural extension of the work I have done so far. It will allow me to put my learnings on the policy and research side to practical use. My focus will be on growing our ODR service to empower and assist aggrieved individuals and entities to resolve their disputes and move on with their life and business. Far too much time, cost and energy is currently being wasted on avoidable and easily resolvable disputes.
