The Delhi Commission for Women has taken suo moto cognizance of the controversial chat room called "Bois Locker Room" on Instagram, which contained lewd and objectionable content against minor girls by teenage boys.

This chat room on social media platform, Instagram, contained many young boys, specifically from classes XI and XII from Delhi's schools who shared lewd and objectionable content pertaining to minor girls. The chat room was used to make comments and share compromising and allegedly morphed images of minor girls.

The chat room has stirred a controversy after screenshots of the same were shared on social media on Sunday exposing the discussion which is in the nature of unabashed objectification of minor girls, plans and techniques to rape them, and also sharing personal and private images of girls without their consent.

The DCW has taken suo moto cognizance of this chat room and has written to the social media platform and issued a notice to Instagram requisitioning details pertaining to the members of the said group.

This is a very serious matter wherein an open platform is being used for illegal activities. In view of the same the Commission has instituted an inquiry into the matter.

Instagram has also been questioned whether the matter was forwarded to the Delhi Police.

In another communication sent to the Delhi Police, the DCW has requested for details regarding the FIR registered in the case as well as details pertaining to any of the accused identified.

The DCW, in the notice sent to the Deputy Commisisoner of Police of the Cyber Cell of Delhi Police, has asked if any arrests in the case have been made and if not, then the reason for the same. The Delhi police has been asked to file a report by May 8 in this case.
