Delhi court allows murder accused to appear in law entrance exam for NLU Delhi

A Delhi court on Wednesday allowed a murder accused, Shashank Jadon to take the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) for admission to the National Law University, Delhi (NLU Delhi)..Vacation judge Chandra Shekhar at Rouse Avenue court held that the right to education is a fundamental right and it would be in the interest of justice if permission is granted to the accused to appear in the test.“It is observed that as per law right to get education is fundamental right and judicial record shows that similar request made by the accused in the year 2020 was allowed by the concerned court vide order dated September 19, 2020, therefore, it seems it is in interest of justice, if permission is granted to the accused to appear in All India Law Entrance Test to be held on June 26, 2022,” the Court ordered..Jadon had applied for the AILET to study BA LLB (Hons.) at the NLU Delhi. It was submitted that pursuant to his application, an admit card was issued to him to appear for the exam.He then approached the Court seeking permission to take the exam.Though the CBI had accepted notice on the application filed by Jadon, it failed to file any reply.
