A Delhi court on Wednesday refused to declare Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satyendar Jain's arrest by Delhi's Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) as illegal.

Special Judge (PC Act) Digvinay Singh of the Rouse Avenue Courts rejected Jain's application in this regard and sent him to judicial custody.

Jain was arrested by the ACB on August 18 in connection with alleged irregularities in the tendering process for sewage treatment plant projects of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB).

The Court also sent Udit Prakash Rai, former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), Nagendra Yadav, Raja Kumar Kurra and Pankaj Verma to judicial custody.

Meanwhile, accused Ankit Srivastava has been sent to police remand for two days.

The case, registered in May 2024 following a complaint by the Directorate of Vigilance, concerns alleged manipulation of tender conditions, criminal conspiracy and suspected bribe payments linked to contracts for upgrading DJB sewage treatment plants.
