Advocate Amit Prasad has withdrawn his resignation from the post of Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) to conduct the Delhi Riots 2020 cases on behalf of the Delhi Police.

Prasad had tendered resignation on December 18, 2023 citing a “conflict between his private practise and Delhi riots cases.”

Speaking to Bar & Bench, Prasad said that he withdrew his resignation after the issues cited by him were addressed.

“There will now be two more prosecutors in the Delhi riots cases and a complete team,” he added.

Notably, Prasad is also Delhi Police’s SPP in the Shraddha Walkar murder case.

As SPP, Amit Prasad was the face of the prosecution in the Delhi Riots matters and had argued in the much-highlighted conspiracy case registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the murder case of 85-year-old Akbari Begum and the sedition case against Sharjeel Imam.
